Before its December 22, 1997 receivership, American Eagle Insurance Company was a major domestic underwriter of aviation risks and a regional carrier insuring transportation, construction and marine risks.
American Eagle's insolvency triggered the protection of policyholders by 45 state insurance guaranty associations ("IGAs") which have since paid covered claims for American Eagle's policyholders.

The company's policyholders and creditors filed 3,432 Proofs of Claim against the receivership estate that were adjudicated by the Special Deputy Receiver resulting in a partial distribution to holders of allowed claims in 2008.

A final distribution to IGAs and creditors with allowed claims will be made in connection with closing the American Eagle receivership proceeding, although no closing date has been set.
For additional information, contact the Special Deputy Receiver's office at (281) 586-7166 or fax (281) 586-7531 or by mail at 110 Cypress Station, Suite 160, Houston, Texas 77090.
